Meigle Park Update – 28 June 2026

Meigle Park update

The firsts lost out to Penicuik on Saturday but with a series of players missing due to the Braw Lads’ Day, put in a respectable showing.

Penicuik made 236 all out with Darius Maritz taking three wickets along with Iqbal Qasim, while Starrett Player of the Match Martiz top scored with 38 supported by Eddie Eyre as Gala were all out for 158.

On Sunday, Gala 2nds made the trip to Penicuik 2nds and struggling the day after Braw Lads’ Day, falling to a nine wicket defeat, Ben McColm claiming Gala’s only wicket.

This weekend sees Gala host Selkirk on Friday evening at 6pm in a T20 game, with Saturday seeing the firsts travel to Grange 2nds and 2nds host Carlton 2nds at Meigle Park with a 1pm start.

Our game against Manderston last week was called off as the Berwickshire club couldn’t raise a side.

Players appeal

With eight weeks of the season to go, the club is needing some more players to help out otherwise we may struggle to fulfil our games, especially during the holiday period. Even if you can only help play home games it would be a huge help.

Any new or returning players would be hugely welcome – just come up to training on a Monday or Thursday from 6pm or contact us via social media or galacricketclub@gmail.com. Please help out the club.

Juniors

There were no games last week, with the next action scheduled for Friday 10 July with a softball festival at Kelso, followed by an under 12s game at Kelso on Wednesday 15 July and under 14s game versus Carlton at home on Monday 20 July.

We are also hosting a junior summer camp from Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 July. The camp will run 10am to 2pm each day and is open to children aged 8 to 15 years of age. All members and non-members are welcome. Contact galacricketclub@gmail.com to sign up.
