Blustery and wet conditions would be the main feature in Gala’s 1st XI game at Meigle Park as they took on Grange 2nd XI. The ground staff had done a brilliant job in ensuring the game started however, after 39 overs into the Grange innings the game was brought to a halt due to heavy showers leaving both teams to head home early as the match was abandoned.
Harris Rutherford was on top form for the home side as he had the ball on a string for his opening spell. Supported by a howling gale from behind him, he managed to find the edge of Lothian who was caught by Eyre at first slip with the score on 26. Chatt and Donaldson managed to then build a partnership of 66 before Indrasiri flighted one where Chatt picked out Finlay Rutherford on the boundary taking the catch and dismissing the Grange opener for 52. Soon after, Rhode took a wicket in his first over of an excellent spell by the leg spinner as he trapped Donaldson in front for 29. Indrasiri picked up his second wicket as Harris Rutherford took the catch this time, dismissing Davenport for 16. After Indrasiri had completed his 10 overs, Tharanga was brought back on to halt the flow of runs and was successful in doing so as he took the wicket of Swanson after excellent work from Khalia behind the stumps diving low to his right to take the catch. Rhode then took a wicket in the last over of the game as Grange reached 145 for 6 wickets with no more cricket being played.
