Meigle Park Update – 13 July 2026

Meigle Park update

Gala suffered defeat on Saturday by five wickets to Edinburgh CC in a rain affected game for Sponsors Day.

Gala posted 172 for 8 off 40 overs with Benji Potgieter top scoring with 44.

In reply, Jamie Crooks took three wickets but it was not enough to deny second top Edinburgh claiming the win.

Potgieter picked up the Starrett Player of the Match award for his top score and an outstanding catch as wicketkeeper.  Benji was pictured in front of Starrett’s new sponsorship board with one of our main sponsors, Scott Paterson of Auld Mill/Ladhope Inn.

A friendly arranged for last Friday was cancelled as Kelso were unable to raise a team. Likewise, Gala 2nds game was off as we could not raise a team to travel to Edinburgh South 3rds.

This week sees the firsts travel to Edinburgh Accies with a 12noon start on Saturday, while the 2nds are due to host Leith 3rds with a 1pm start.

Sponsors/Supporters Day

We had a successful Sponsors/Supporters Day on Saturday, with 50 people up during the day. We thank all of them for the support for the club.

Players appeal

The club is badly needing some more players to help out otherwise we may struggle to fulfil our games, especially during the holiday period. Even if you can only help play home games it would be a huge help.

Any new or returning players would be hugely welcome – just come up to training on a Monday or Thursday from 6pm or contact us via social media or galacricketclub@gmail.com. Please help out the club.

Juniors

We potentially are playing St Boswells at under 12s age group on Wednesday 15 July and under 14s game versus Carlton at home on Monday 20 July and Kelso at home on Wednesday 22 July.

We are also hosting a junior summer camp from Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 July. The camp will run 10am to 2pm each day and is open to children aged 8 to 15 years of age. All members and non-members are welcome. Contact galacricketclub@gmail.com to sign up.

Junior training takes place every Tuesday from 6.30pm to 7.45pm until late August.

We have our final week of the All Stars Cricket sessions for five to eight year olds this Friday, where our All Stars will receive a medal and certificate, with a bbq also taking place. Well done to them all for taking part.
