Meigle Park Update – 5 July

Paterson guides Gala to Border T20 final

An outstanding score of 98 by Robbie Paterson guided Gala to the Border T20 Cup final after a 48 run win over Selkirk at a soggy Meigle Park last Friday.

Paterson and Darius Maritz (49) top scored for Gala in their total of 168 for 7, while Selkirk made 120 for 8.

Gala have won all of their games so far to make the final, with the opponent to be decided and venue expected to be Meigle Park.

Saturday was a day to forget for Gala however, as the firsts and seconds were soundly beaten by Grange 2nds and Carlton 4ths respectably.

Meigle Park update – 22 June

Meigle Park update

The firsts had a bizarre call off on Saturday, after making the three hour round trip to Kirkcaldy only to discover Dunnikier’s ground being unplayable and the umpire rightly calling off the game without a ball being bowled.

A makeshift Gala 2nds suffered defeat to a strong Stewart Melville 3rds at Meigle Park in Division Five, who contained six players from their 2nd XI – who are third in Division One – the week before.

Ben McColm and Seb Loumeau took two wickets each, while young Cullen Halley and Abdul Wahab both bowled well as the capital side made 206 for six.

In reply, Shokib Bangash was top run scorer with 26 and Starrett player of the match Halley with 12 as Gala were all out for 87.

This weekend sees Gala host Penicuik on Braw Lads’ Day on Saturday, with a 12noon start at Meigle Park. The bar will be open for anyone coming up for something to do during afternoon.

The 2nds will be at Penicuik 2nds on Sunday with a 1pm start, we are due to also face Manderston on Friday evening at 6pm in a t20 game at Meigle Park.
Training continues on Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm – we are currently looking out for more players to help us put out two teams each week for the second half of the season. Please contact us via social media or galacricketclub@gmail.com if interested or would like more information.
